The report generator can create a text file with all the unique surnames.

There are two other alternatives.

  1. In the properties if the individual, right-click on the surname and select Copy Drop List to Clipboard.  This action will copy all unique surnames to the clipboard, so you can paste them to Notepad or a spreadsheet.  You can do the same action for any field.
  2. The other alternative is to use the Table Layout.  In the Table Layout, you can use the same copy command, or use the Find & Replace dialog.  The Find & Replace dialog has a Pick button which will generate a list of unique surnames.  You can copy this list to the clipboard too.

You can use a similar technique to that described previously in this post by GenoProSupport.  But first copy just the required tab/familytree to a new temporary .gno, i.e. Copy it all Ctrl/A Ctrl/C, create new .gno Ctrl/N and paste it Ctrl/V.  Then use Table Layout, Contacts.. on the new .gno.  Double click on one of the email addresses, then right click and choose Copy Drop List to Clipboard. Q.E.D.
