How can I get the sequence of events recorded in the proper way with the narrative style:
1st to get engaged on a certain date somewhere
2nd to get married (civil,etc.)

So the 2nd step and the next ones are ok, but how do I record the engagement befor that?

One way is to add up a comment on the family properties unions tab: "Got engaged on the ... at ..., ..."

Thanks, but this was not the answer I was expecting, since this is too simple. Before you have a civil or a religious marriage, you most probably are engaged first, at least in some societies. I think this should be recorded as "they were engaged on.. at.. and subsequently they were married on.. at.. (civil/religious)", not as a comment.

I have thought for some time that the current 'Unions' would be better as family 'events' with engagement, wedding, divorce all being different types of event. Gedcom has other family events such as MARB - posting of Banns for marriage, MARL - obtaining a marriage license, DIVF - filing for divorce etc. According to the Beta program, events are to be included in Beta 17. There is also a need for Individuals to have other events and attributes recorded as well as the existing occupation and education events. Perhaps a general purpose Event record is needed to cover both requirements.

We plan to revise the tags during our last beta.  The term Marriage will be renamed to Union and Divorce will be renamed to Separation.  A marriage is a special case of an union, and a divorce is a special case of a separation.

Just a little suggestion, marriage still might stay a default state of union... It was the most common in the archive records. Or at least there should be an option of defining default state for this (and eventually any other) field!

One of those events for a marriage could be the arranged marriage where you are introduced by someone or agency (date and place) and if it is a person that person may be also the witness to your marriage.
These arranged marriages are very popular in Japan and is called "omiai".
