Advice please on how to enable a relative to receive GenoPro as a gift (with password) and for them to use that password to 'open' their new programme / present and enjoy it ?

GenoPro is being sent as an e-mail attachment.

My understanding is that Web is not available to them so registration of the password could, I assume, be not detected by GenPro !

Is there any other way to register ?

The simplest way to send GenoPro as a gift is to forward your email purchase receipt to the desired recipient.  The recipient can download GenoPro from http://www.genopro.com/ or from http://www.genopro.com/beta/.  Once the download is complete, the recipient can enter the registration key from the email in the registration dialog.

I do not recommend sending the file InstallGenoPro.exe by email for many reasons:

  1. You can download it from our website.  You always have the latest version by downloading from us.
  2. Your email may be blocked because it is too big to fit in the mailbox (mailbox quota).
  3. To prevent viruses from spreading, many ISPs do block email containing executables (.exe files).
  4. Including the .exe makes the email bigger, and much longer to download.  If the user is on a dial-up, it may take several minutes to download the email.  This may be very costly.  Once I was in a hotel and someone sent me a 5 MB email attachment.  Whell, this attachment cost me more than $20 to download.  Donloading an email attachment is not as efficient as downloading a file from the web because the email attachment is Bast64-encoded which requires more space than its native format.

The other alternative is to burn the file InstallGenoPro.exe on a CD and send it as a gift by snail-mail.  You do not need an online conneciton to use GenoPro.  The user can type his registration key without the connecting to the web.  We recommend our users to register their email address so they can retrieve their registration key in case of a hard disk crash.  We will also use the email address to send notifications about updates, such as GenoPro 2.0.  By the way, the password is useful only to post message to this forum.  If you forgot your password, you can always ask the server to re-send it by email.
