I transferred an XML file between version 18e and 20e and the transfer appears to be OK. However, when tring to export to Gedcom via report generator or export a Gedcom file, I get the following error;
Publishing report to http://familytrees.genopro.com/ops026/ Connecting to server familytrees.genopro.com... Reading file 'C:\family\dec06.ged'... Detected Gedcom document with Charset='ANSI' (Code Page=1252) Importing using Code Page 1252 known as 'Western European/US (Windows)' Validating data... Any help would be appreciated as I cannot publish in 20e. 18e works OK

I have just started to generated the report of my updated tree for my web site and to test that it is OK for uploading to GenoPro but I keep getting errors with the version 2.0.[446.28] Unable to write file 'Hannaford-Edith-ind17808.htm'. Error: Write Fault. Unable to create and/or write file [446.34] Unable to write file 'Hannaford-Maude-ind17809.htm'. Error: Write Fault. Unable to create and/or write file [446.40] Unable to write file 'Hannaford-Robert-ind17810.htm'. Error: Write Fault. Unable to create and/or write file [446.45] Unable to write file 'Hannaford-Herbert-ind17811.htm'. Error: Write Fault. Unable to create and/or write file [446.50] Unable to write file 'Hannaford-Mary-ind17812.htm'. I see that the first 17000 went OK and then it stopped. I noticed that my list of IDs were not ideal so I regenerated the list by deleting the column and saving but the same thing happened. What could cause this ?

We will investigate this error. Sometimes a server may flush a session while GenoPro is publishing, thus "loosing" the connection.

IainTait (12/28/2006) I was generating a report on my harddrive and not to the web Oh, this is interesting. Is your harddrive formatted NTFS or FAT32? I think FAT32 is limited to 16,384 files per folder.

Yes it is Fat 32 as, when I had all my crashes, I had to format several times whilst waiting for my new computer and hadn't thought there would be a problem. (The last time I made a report it was only 11000 names.) I have at last got my old computer working again and don't fancy starting all over again to format it as NTFS. I will check my old laptop to see if it is in NTFS though it is in bad shape as well with erroneous partitions after contamination. Effectively, when I generate smaller reports even with my customised skin, I have no problems. :

I have at last got my old computer working again and don't fancy starting all over again to format it as NTFS. You can convert from FAT to NTFS without having to reformat. Windows has a tool for "formatting" NTFS while keeping all your data. By the way, in 2001 I converted from FAT to NTFS on a server using a remote terminal.You can use the Windows utility Convert.exe to convert FAT to NTFS.

For some reason when I ran convert.exe a small Dos window opened and closed again straight away without doing any thing !? The utility Convert.exe runs in a command prompt. What you need is open a command prompt (DOS) window and type "Convert /?" which will give you the options. C:\Documents and Settings\Daniel>convert /? Converts FAT volumes to NTFS.CONVERT volume /FS:NTFS [/V] [/CvtArea:filename] [/NoSecurity] [/X] volume Specifies the drive letter (followed by a colon), mount point, or volume name. /FS:NTFS Specifies that the volume is to be converted to NTFS. /V Specifies that Convert should be run in verbose mode. /CvtArea:filename Specifies a contiguous file in the root directory to be the place holder for NTFS system files. /NoSecurity Specifies the converted files and directories security settings to be accessible by everyone. /X Forces the volume to dismount first if necessary. All opened handles to the volume would then be invalid. C:\Documents and Settings\Daniel> |
