Sometimes I can copy paste to Word, other times I get a microscopic image. Is there something I need to do differently? Would really appreciate help asap as my assignment is due soon and I am just wanting to double check I did it correctly before I hand it in, but can't do so without transferring it to Microsoft Word.Thanks for your help.

First, why do you *need* to paste to Microsoft Word. If you want to print your genogram, you should print it directly from GenoPro. You get a microscopic genogram if you have too many individuals in a single page.

You cannot just copy the genogram and then paste it into Word as Word will not recognise the GenoPro format. I find the best method to transfer the graphics to Word is to use a Screenshot program. There are many freeware programs available, but I use Screenshot Captor from http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/screenshotcaptor/index.html. It is free to use but you will have to get a free licence key.

It is not clear what you are trying to copy and paste. You cannot just copy the genogram and then paste it into Word as Word will not recognise the GenoPro format.GenoPro uses the metafile format in the clipboard. Any application supporting the metafile format, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Paint can paste the graphical family tree from GenoPro.

TO simplify... 1. Press Ctrl+PrintScrn 2. Switch to MSWord 3. Press Ctrl+V Was that what you've been looking for?! In addition you can crop surpluses in MSWord and have clear Screen view printed out...

One of the strengths of Genopro is the ability to select any portion of the tree - then copy and paste that section into a word document, graphic program and most Windows applications.
Select a name in the tree.
Select Ancestor Tree or Descendant Tree or Siblings etc. to isolate the section you require.
Copy or CTRL/C then open your other application and paste.
I've found this very useful when sending the relevant branch of my tree to an overseas relative.
But I would avoid bitmap graphic programs like Irfanview and Paint Shop Pro like the plague.
The files are too large and you can't zoom without distortion.
You can also paste the required section to a new, blank Genomap then print the output to a PDF file using a virtual PDF printer.
Either way the output is always sharp at any zoom.
If your tree is divided into several Genomaps they can be printed separately using the PDF printer to create your tree in book form.

Many thanks for your quick response. I downloaded 2.0.0.8 and achieved success. It's good to know that someone is out there solving all those imperfections and improving GenoPro's performance. I still had a minor problem when splitting a tree into two (or more, I suppose) Word pages - but that can wait for another day. Thanks again - John

Many thanks for the cut and paste "how-to" in this thread. It was very useful for me. But it is frustrating that those features are not in the reporting documentation (using a wide definition of reporting as outputting info for viewing without using GenoPro) instead of need to search the forums. Could the moderators create a reporting how-to and add in any stuff like this that emerges.I love GenoPro, but I am seriously considering replacing it with some other software because I need to be able to email my data to relatives to read in a simple txt/word page format, without their needing to do complex things like install genology software, pdf readers, unzip and open HTML folders etc. Also, the HTML report presents loads of detailed data, grouping everyone by lastname etc, but does not include a simple hierarchy overview, which is important for conveying the info in a way for someone to easily scan it and see where themselves or another individual fit into the hierarchy. And while I am on my rant  , let me continue and say that the documentation on 'skins' is not very helpful either. I can't find any examples. I might be able to restructure the standard report to the hierarchy layout that I want but I have not found any pointers on where to start. I hope that the next version provides some 'simple report' options.
