Jean-Claude, I completely agree with you. Speaking as a former IT manager of 20 years, it is completely ridiculous to expect a company to support beta versions of products. Quite frankly, as a paying customer, I would expect you to put your energy and resources into further enhancements and not to prop up what are essentially test versions. Keep up the good work.Tony, if you think that Jean-Claude's attempt to ascertain what problems you may be having with the current version of GenoPro are "chastisement", you must be a very sensitive person! Bob.

From what I can see, your primary issue is about the report generator that creates sentence instead of fill in the blanks template. I agree with you earlier versions were easier to customize because the Narrative Report is now pretty complex. The fact that we have choosen not to support every beta version (about 95 released) is because they are beta... the term Beta by itself refers to testing features which might changed or be removed. We have no objections you may any beta for ever, however we do not support those old versions because they are incomplete and have many bugs. Upgrading from a Beta to GenoPro 2007 should not loose the pictures. Something else must have been changed while upgrading, such as moving the folder where the pictures were located, or moving the .gno file itself. You are welcome to try our Relink Picture from the Tools menu to locate your pictures.

I am not a whiz at HTML editing. The reason I personally do not like the upgrade (I almost got a sense from your response that you were somewhat insulted) is that the older versions are easier to edit utilizing Netscape. There are several family members in my tree that have had marital partners at one time or another that they would rather forget (for example). For other individuals, I like to customize their individual pages (add a flag for military service, etc). In any event, the Netscape editor doesn't handle frames, and when I go to edit web pages in the newest version of GenoPro I get an error message. In the older version of GenoPro, I can select file/edit in Netscape and see the HTML document and edit it (similar to editing a Word Document). I can then see what the finished product will look like before I re-save it. I have nothing against your newest version, I just personally find the older versions more "comfortable" for me, since I can easily make it do what I want it to do. Not all of us are extremely computer literate, and sometimes simpler is better. I have purchased your product because of how useful it is. I personally don't feel that subtle chastising of a customer for not upgrading to later versions is the way to treat a customer. I tried 2.0 and simply couldn't get it to do what I was able to get earlier versions to do. In addition, I the new version 2 did not bring any of my pictures over when I upgraded. I have many pictures, and re-adding them would have been a daunting task to say the least. As such, I reverted to the older versions. You have a great product (older and newer versions), and you should continue to support paying customers regardless of the version they are using. One of the things that causes me to "move on," so to speak are software outfits that for whatever reason want to abandon those loyal folks who are comfortable with earlier versions of decent software programs. I came here to ask a question of "The Complete Geneology Reporter," not to be chastised about what version of GenoPro I am using.

Tony:-
First of all - Thank you for pointing out TCGR. What a great program! I downloaded and registered immediately.
The problem could be be with the version you are using or perhaps the method you use to create the GEDCOM. I tried TCGR with GEDCOM files produced from earlier versions of GENOPRO and the pictures were not produced. I have just downloaded the latest version of GENOPRO (2.0.1.1) and the pictures are included. It seems that later versions of GENOPRO use tags that are recognised by TCGR.
I would suggest that you persist with the latest version and be sure to generate GEDCOM files through the Report Generator. When importing the file into TCGR select Media Section and/or Thumbnails in Narrative in the Include section to include the pictures.

I would love to know what kind of feature you don't like in GenoPro 2007 that makes it more difficult to use than the old beta 2.18f?We plan to phase out completely the beta versions (without any user support) because everyone is eligible for free upgrade. It is important for you to let us know why you don't want to upgrade, otherwise you will be left alone.

Have begun to use the Complete Genealogy Reporter 2008 with GenoPro and have generally had good success. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get pictures to download with the other GEDCOM information. I am using Genopro Beta version 2.b18f. I actually upgraded to the latest GenoPro version but went back to Beta version 2.b18f simply because I personally found it easier to use. Was wondering if anyone else was using The Complete Genealogy Reporter 2008 software (produces a VERY nice product) and GenoPro and has gotten pictures to come over with the narrative. Any assistance would be appreciated.
