Hi

When I generate my report, the overview map is blank, even though I have hundreds of place names (town and county) in my tree.

Can anyone shed any light on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Tash

Only 'geo-coded' places are shown on the overview map, i.e. those with latitude and longitude set. There are tools/sites mentioned elsewhere on this forum that can help with finding these.

The reason for this is the time it would take to do a Google Maps API lookup of each address. This lookup is only performed when displaying details for a sinlge place, i.e. on that place's page in the report.

Hello Ron,

A little question concerning Overview map:

It begins displaying of places only after first zooming and not when just opened, is it possible to see all the places in the whole world map?

and is it possible to turn off the grouping of places?

Thanks

To be honest I am not sure why this happens. May be due to the clustering routine I am using

and is it possible to turn off the grouping of places?

You could try changing line 75 of clusterer2.js in a custom skin

Clusterer.defaultMaxVisibleMarkers = 30;
setting the value high (more than your number of places). Note that display will be very slow with large numbers of places so you may need to set it lower.

Perhaps another look at the clustering routines is required. A quick Google shows up ClusterMarker by Martin Pearman. I'll give it a try when I get a moment and see how it performs compared with Clusterer2 from Jef Poskanzer.
