I need to add brackets around an
adopted
person
, not a dotted line. How can I do that? I also need to put a slash through the grandparents to show that they are dead. Can I use something in the program to do that? The college requires that I use the Bennett criteria.

It possible to draw brackets and slashes using GenoPro drawing objects. Here I have used two overlapping text boxes (press L or right click on empty space) for brackets and an arrow for slash, both with properties adjusted to suit. Objects need to be positioned depthwise (use [ and ] or Shift+[, Shift+] or right click on selected object and use position. The .gno is attached for you to examine.
Download
and open it and then for example drag 'adopted child 2' over the overlapped
labels
to its left. I have shown the 2nd text box with a dotted border to make is visible for demonstration purposes.
If you need to move an adopted child created in this way then select as a group with the labels by using the mouse to drag a selection box around both the brackets and individual and then move this group.
