I would like to use this program but want to put an individual's birth/death dates underneath his/her name, as is more usual in family trees. However, I cannot see how to do this, nor does an answer to this query pop up when I search the forum.  Is there anyway it can be done.

Also, I would prefer not to have the male/female shapes attached to each name.

You can turn off the display of gender symbol and top label (dates) in the Display tab of the Individual Properties page.  Getting the dates underneath requires a slight of hand Wink

You can enter the required values as the name suffix, and then change 'Display Name' format to include suffix and 'Full Name' to not have it.  If you have spaces and/or hyphen between say date of birth and date of death you must use non-breaking spaces and non-breaking hyphen.  You can type these using the number pad (n.b. NOT the number keys on the top row of your keyboard.  Hold down Alt and on the number pad type 0160 and release Alt for non-breaking space and ALT 8209 for non-breaking hyphen. I have also put them here for you between >< i.e. > ‑ < as space hyphen space so you can copy from here.

Notice Ignatus Prewitt has an odd line above it. To remove this in Display tab set border to transparent and background to white, as per Melania McMillan

Name suffixes can be easily be set to dates in Table Layout, Individuals

It would be nice for the program to support this without the sleight of hand, given that I'm already using most of the fields for other purposes... and having the Name Suffix field (the logical one to use for this) display requires a change in formatting to the rest of the name that's not what I want. All the more reason for full name and display name not to have preset lists of possibilities unless those lists are complete... which is impossible. I'd like to see the full name and display name fields work like drag-and-drop targets in the "Defaults" tab (so that I don't have to change every single one of my several thousand individuals separately) that allows insertion of fields in any order with whatever punctuation is required without having to worry about making sure that each one has no typos. It would be far simpler (in my mind, at least, but I haven't done any programming beyond HTML and scripting since 2000) to have things done this way, as well as providing a "header/footer" toggle for the date. Just a thought... assuming we ever see development of this program resume. Smile
