Is there a way to track Name Days in addition to
Birth
Days?
My background is Greek, and most Greeks are named after some kind of Saint. Most Saints have a fixed date of celebration every
year
, but a few move around depending on when Easter is, etc.
This site tracks
about
3,800 names and name days:

Any suggestions on how this could be achieved with genopro?
For example, my birthday is in May, but my name day is in December. I get more calls from Greek relatives, friends, and acquaintances on my Name Day than on my Birth Day.
Thanks in advance.

My suggestion is to create
Individuals
representing the Saints with date of birth as the Name day and then connect other individuals to their Saint using a 'Named after'
Social Relationship
. If this makes the
GenoMap
too cluttered then move each Saint to their own GenoMap or 'All Saints' GenoMap and then individuals as a
hyperlink
. The social relationship would have to be created on this new GenoMap to make it visible.
Of course you could leave the relationships as hidden. Move the Saint to the individuals map, make the relationship and then move the Saint back to his/her map.
Make the
references
column visible in
Table Layout
, Individuals and you will see all the hidden and visible relationships for each Saint
You can of course just use a
custom tag
to record the name day, but this would be more of a problem for dates that move around.

Thanks for the suggestions genome ...
So for the fixed-date saints ... just put in a birthdate with month and day?
How would you suggest I handle the saints that move around each year?
I'm have about 3,000 people in my
tree
so far and a lot of common names (eg Nick, George, John, Dimitri (Jimmy))
