Did you run 7z1900.exe to install 7zip? This should add an entry for 7z.dll in the registry so it can be found.

I somehow opened a nice looking, icon based interface, which apparently did nothing.  Don't remember how I got there.

So I had to switch back to the classic "File Manager" interface for the installations to work.
