You are correct; GenoPro increases the count by 1 when you move to a new GenoMap. This is because the Individual providing the link occurs on both sheets. It might be more correct to show "Number of entries in the database" but you just need to remember it is recording number of individual entries.

You might have noticed that the two entries can have different properties. Try colouring one of the gender symbols. That is not copied to the duplicate; if you copy a coloured symbol then the colours are also copied but can be modified.

Hope that helps

Moving individuals from one GenoMap to another GenoMap creates an hyperlink.  The statistics do include the hyperlinks, thus adding +1 individual to the genealogy tree.  I agree this is confusing, however I don't know how to make the statistics better...

I am using GP1.91b. When I click on a person in the tree, it creates small squares around that person's box. When I try to move that person, the link can grow like Medusa's hair.

I know I just created a single line i.e. from the parent link I requested a new son. However, when I click on the son to move him, it looks like multiple links. They are not, but it is a painful experience to move a person and then get the link to look neat and tidy again.

I know I must be doing something wrong, I just not not figure what.

Any guidance is appreciated.

This was my original problem. When I left GP1.91b to Beta, it presented a whole new set of issues. I ended up having to make the graphics of the tree over again.

At any rate, attached is a screen showing what I mean about the many squares. There must be an easy way to move a single person without causing all those weird lines.

When you move a person, do not highlight the lines and move, but the persons. To correct this, highlight the family and autoarrange (only the selection). To move those many squares into the proper position is also possible, but it will take your patience.

Thanks Maru-san

I do click on the person, not the links. The screen shot is the result of the person named Bill. Now the multiple "line" boxes does not appear with everyone. Of the 325 people in the tree, probably less than half have this problem.

However, when a family member has a child, I usually have to move other family members around. I try to highlight an entire family and move them, however, there seemingly is always a "Bill" whose line boxes show up and make a mess of the tree.

I am just trying to learn why this happens. Why does it happen with just a few and not all? I am certain it is something I have don't I just need to know what, so I can avoid doing it in the future.

Thanks
k
