I used an XML editing program to edit Dictionay .xml in 2011.1.16 Skin Rapport Narratif and made a few changes, such as swapping some text words with other words which I liked better and adding a space in-between words in places where the spaces were missing. For instance replacing {2} with [ {2}] (where 2 = date of birth, e.g.). This has worked out fine in many cases and I think I have not corrupted the dictionary code. I then hit situations where my method and qualifications were not good enough to produce the results I was trying to achieve. Below are the report generated sentences (I thought the wording might tell you where to look in the dictionary) which I could not correct, because I could not find out by myself where nor what should be done:
1) Il a eu 1 frère et trois sœurs, prénommés Philippe, Raymonde, CarmenetRita
Ils ont un fils et une fille, prénommés VincentetLorraine
There should be spaces: “Carmen et Rita” and “Vincent et Lorraine”
2) At the bottom of an Individual page:
 Voirla famille de Joseph Marie Lewis avec Anne Marie Mireille Froget
There should be a space between “Voir” and “la”
3) At the bottom of the home page:
Ce rapport généalogique a été généré par GenoPro® version 2.5.3.5 du 4.2.2011 avec la matrice de traduction personnalisé e Rapport narratif français version 14.09.2008.
Somewhere in my changes, I lost the “e” which was in the “e Rapport narrative français” field. With my modified skin, it looks now: “…matrice de traduction personnalisé Rapport narratif français version 14.09.2008.”. Ideally, it should look: “…matrice de traduction personnalisée Rapport narratif français version 14.09.2008.”
All this is not critical as I can work with GenPro 2011 and I can see that you have all your hands busy with getting all the other functionalities of the 2011 version working. But it would be nice to have when time allows. Maybe one at a time…To save the time I have spent making my corrections to the french Dictionary.xml, I would obviously prefer to be told what I should do (the modified code and and where to replace it) instead of receiving a corrected version of Dictionary.xml. If it can be of any use, although it is now tuned for optimal results with my database, my version of Dictionary.xml is at your disposal.

Hi Roland,Very pleased to see you taking on the task of bringing the French Dictionary up to date. It is difficult to tell exactly what is wrong without seeing your version of Dictionary.xml, perhaps you could attach it to your post? But anyway I strongly suspect that your XML Editor is at fault. The Dictionary uses numeric entities such a   to represent enforced spaces. Perhaps your editor is replacing these with ordinary spaces. Unfortunately these are then treated as 'white space' and stripped out when GenoPro reads the entry. For example the English Dictionary has <ConjunctionAnd T=" and " />Please check that your French Dictionary still has the   entities in place for this tag e.g. " et ". I can look into the other problems when you post your Dictionary.xml. It is safer to use a standard text editor to change Dictionary.xml and then check its sysntax by opening with Internet Explorer for example. My favourite is the brilliant (and free!) PsPad Editor.

I just discovered your reply. This could be the reason. I used "spaces", but it seemed to work in some places... I'll check immediately if using   does the trick. I let you know asap.

I checked using PsPad Editor, but do not think that I erased spaces:
<And T=" et " />
<ConjunctionAnd T=" et " />
and the report keeps being generated with the missing spaces as in my illustration in the french forum. My version of the french Dictionary is appended. Please see my remarks and caveat in the french forum. If you prefer, I would be pleased to continue this thread here, in english. Please let me know. Looking forward to reading your thoughts upon your perusal of my dictionary

As I suspected and you have remarked on, your XML Editor appears to have replaced all   entities with a space character. Other decimal numeric entities have been replaced by their hexadecimal equivalents. The   entities should be put back. I can do this easily with search and replace if required.

In the meantime, I used the latest versions of Dictionary.xml and Config.xml as referenced in JC Morin'message in the french forum and the missing spaces problems disappeared. This confirms if need be what you found at your end. So, what I would need to do now is to re-implement all my changes in french, using a less destructive XML editor, PsPad e.g. If it is easy for you to patch my clumsy unwanted changes of spaces with a find and replace procedure, I would prefer to skip the french changing exercise and thus reduce the risk of breaking something else in the process. Just in case, please confirm that PsPad is safe and does not strip off spaces or other characters if I open, change some text and save.
