Hi,I am having a problen understanding why the vertical bars are sometimes missing between the marriage connector and the sibling connector. When the bar is missing, the automatic layout does not seem to work as it should. The following example is from the report http://familytrees.genopro.com/keasoft/ourfamily/.  In the above, you can see that the marriage line of Ralph and Megan has a vertical bar connecting to the sibling line. However, marriage line and sibling line of Stuart and Margaret are overlaid, (appear as one). This can be manually fixed by pulling down the sibling line, as below, but it is lost again it an automatic layout is performed. 
This leads to the auto layout issue I have. If you add a new son and a new daughter to the marriage of Stuart & Marcia the layout becomes almost impossible to follow as the connectiones are directly over the connections between Rex and Patricia, as below. 
I hope this leads somewhere. Its just that The folks I have who say "Wow! I didnt know that" all say it because of the clarity you Genomaps bring. Regards

Thank you thats great. I should have read it sooner.Can you tell me where to find info on when what you call the "split of a family Object" happens? I.e the "family" line is split into a "marriage" line and a "sibling line" with a vertical bar? as in my example above. Many thanks.

Can you tell me where to find info on when what you call the "split of a family Object" happens?This feature is not documented yet. You split a family object into two horizontal lines when you run out of space, or when you want to put the children in a different spot on the family tree. The feature to split a family was created in 1998, way before the GenoMaps. With the GenoMaps, the need to split a family is greatly reduced.

Well I think it is an excellent feature. It clarifies my maps terrificaly. See below.
The vertical connectior shows without ambiguity, the issue from each union. Keep up the good work.

I am not sure if there is a genealogical convention here, so I use my own preferences. The separation of the marriage line and sibling line may clarify things, at the expense of using space. I prefer to separate the marriage lines vertically, which indicates the relative dates of the unions. If you do this there is is no ambiguity about parentage of children.
