Sorryif this question has been asked before, but is there any way of automaticallyupdating newly entered data on one GenoPro database on my laptop I carry to dothe research then onto my GenoPro database on my workstation desktop computer athome? I am trying to unify two databases with the same family ancestry. Betterstill is there any way of having individual centralised database so we canupload new family data which can then be added to each family database?
WhenI do a lot of research I normally carry it out on my laptop with me, butsometimes I also enter new data downloaded on my workstation, but I never seemto be able to automatically update them both together so I have one complete<up to date> set of genealogy family data. Other family members that alsouse GenoPro would also like to be updated as we each enter new data.
Isthere any way we can have a automatic system so new data entered on either alaptop or a desktop computer can be merged together into one big family data?
PSto GenoSupport, thanks for the excellent program and the updates along the way,I have used this software for many years and it has helped all our family bothmedically and with great ancestry, more so it has helped doctors trace geneticcancer just has the GenoPro author and I predicted. Last month we identified new family in Switzerland linked to UK, Canada and America families too.

For now GenoPro do not have this kind of feature.
But with recent free online service such as Google Drives/Docs and Microsoft SkyDrive that offre gigs of data online; This is way to map those online drive as local drive or a folder in your computer. |

I recommend DropBox. It acts like a local disk drive (once set up). You can access files from this remote drive as if it is stored locally - from all connected computers (but only one at a time).

If you move between two computers the simplest way, avoiding loging on, is to put the files on a memory stick. You can back up from the stick but make sure it has the latest set of data. If you can always work online you could also use GenoPro Online Backup but this does not necessarily include photographs etc. If you always make the USB option the main source it will always contain the latest version without having to remember which version is the last. One feature GenoPro lacks is any internal date stamping; have to use the OS to see which was last used and MS has an odd definition of Last Modified.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas, very interesting; I use a Western Digital MYBOOKWorld networked drive system along with Mionet and WD Anywhere Premium for backup which I can access anywhere in the world with a computer or smart phone, so that might be my best option; I had not considered this option until you mentioned online drives.
I had just wanted to autosync my two individual GenoPro databases into one each time I added new materials and possibly share the new data with the family without having to manually share the new data but not the whole database. I have not added images of family to reduce the size of the file but these days I have 10 terabyte of drive space for images so size is no longer a problem. I agree about time stamps can be a problem within a OS, which was why I asked if GenoPro software could do it alone,
Thanks again everyone for the valuable input, always helpful to look at the problem from a different prospective on how other users view their record systems, very much appreciate your inputs,
Best regards,
Chris
