Hello
It's been a while since i've been here in the forum.
I have problem with changing options while generating a report. I am using the latest download.
I get this error:
"Error: Unable to load Internet Explorer ActiveX control for Configuration Parameters dialog.
Please load Internet Explorer outside of GenoPro and resolve any prompts before trying again"

No problem launching IE. I even reinstalled IE. I dont use IE, I use Firefox instead. I would rather not have to use IE.
Is there another way to to get to all those options without IE?
Thanks

There are two other ways to set config values required without lauching IE for the Config Parameters dialogue.

Firstly you can change the default values in Code/local/ConfigMsgEN.xml.

Alternatively you set up custom Document tags in your .gno, same names as tags in ConfigMsgEN.xml and with values required.

The values also get saved in the registry under key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DanMorin.com\GenoPro\SkinConfiguration\English Narrative Report  and so you could use regedit to change these values.

I am wondering what is causing your problem.  What Windows version are you running and which version of IE and is it 32 bit or 64 bit?  Have you tried running without your anti-virus product active?

Thank you for your reply.
I cannot find Code/local/ConfigMsgEN.xml, I only have Code/theme folders. I cannot find the file
ConfigMsgEN.xml in report skin at all.

I am running Windows 7 64bit with IE 9.
When I uninstalled IE, I ended up with IE 8. It behaved the same. I then installed IE 9. I dont know what caused this problem but it worked originally. Then I installed Inscape. It came with a number of junk application. I uninstalled those angot stuck with this problem. I even restored the system to a previous restore point, no difference.

EDIT: Found a newer Report skin (2012.09.20). It contains the
Code/local/ConfigMsgEN.xml. The Report skin I was using is the one with .exe file.

Sorry, when you said you had the latest download I assumed you had found the latest skin here http://support.genopro.com/Topic28332.aspx

Also with the above skin the registry key is Narrative Report not English Narrative Report (my mistake)

I am not familiar with 64 bit windows but I am wondering whether installing the 32bit version of IE 9 would help.

Unfortunately, that link appears to be dead.
Since I dont use IE, I would rather leave it alone (its not easy uninstalling and installing IE). I prefer to make changes by the other means you suggested.

Link should be OK now (had a trailing space on the URL now removed)

Now that I have the right report skin I have a major problem.
Having the custom tag  ChangeParameters set to N, I get the following error:
"Error at line 506, position 1 (init.htm): Subscript out of range: '[number: 1]'
    Microsoft VBScript runtime error 800A0009"

What could be causing this?
Thanks

It looks as if the error is caused by the parameter 'Stylesheet' having an incompatible value (i.e. hyphen is missing).  The ConfigMsgEN.xml default is 'Default_0'.  I suspect a value is being obtained from either a Document custom tag 'StyleSheet' or from within the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DanMoBy the way rin.com\GenoPro\SkinConfiguration\Narrative Report

Such custom tags and registry settings take precedence when no dialogue changes are made and so should be deleted if ConfigMsgXX.xml values are required.

By the way setting the checkbox 'Do not display dialog ...'  under the Options Tab of the Generate Report dialogue has the same effect as setting a ChangeParameters custom tag to 'N'

Since I have not been able to launch the IE form, I have no Narrative Report entry in the registry yet to alter the default.
I checked the Stylesheet entry in ConfigMsgEN.xml and it is 'Default_0'.

EDIT: I have done some more checking on the original computer. The problem I had originally (IE Form problem) was with the previous skin. With the latest skin (2012.09.20) I get :
"Error at line 506, position 1 (init.htm): Subscript out of range: '[number: 1]'
    Microsoft VBScript runtime error 800A0009"

This is the case with or without
setting the checkbox 'Do not display dialog ...'. I have removed all custom tags to remove any possible conflicts.
On this computer I am unable to do a report at all with this skin.
