Next to the standard information about names, dates and relationships I collected in the past, I'm also finding additional information in articles, stories, anecdotes and even books where family members are mentioned. Most of these documents are stored somewhere on a web server on the internet, either managed by myself or by another member of the (related) family, or an external party. And frequently these stories refer to more than one family member.
Hence, I don't want to copy and repeat the same story (which sometimes can be lengthy) for each individual family member but I would like to keep the story somewhere on a web server and simply link to those files. My question is how to connect properly to these remote files?
I don't want to use the source reference options because it is actually the genealogy tree itself that is the source of the document, not the way around.
The best solution I could come up so far was to insert a hyperlink in the text in the comments fields as shown in the test text below in the bottom right corner of the picture.

But maybe there are some people with a better idea on how to do this?

You can add extra narrative etc to a Custom Tag named _Narrative. This tag is automatically processed by the Narrative Report template scripts. Create the tag using the Tag Editor. Custom tag entry is only a single line so prepare your content elsewhere e.g. in say Comment box then cut and paste into _Narrative tag.
Suggest you create a collapsible subsection e.g. 'Further Reading' using <?subsection custom markup. see http://familytrees.genopro.com/genome/Nand/Diabolo-ind00002.htmNote that the html cannot contain double quotes as they are used as a delimiter, unless you use another custom tag to hold the html and reference it in the <?subsection ... ?>. my example uses single quotes.

OK got it. Thanks for the samples.
Sorry about the "xxx" I used to mask out part of the URL. It was not my intention to redirect to a porn page.

I hadn't spotted that but I have now deleted the sample report anyway.

I have been experimenting a little bit with these custom tags and defined the following ones (using just simple test names)

Where

When generating the report this produces the following:

The only thing that annoys me a little bit are the "Subsection N Headings" and the fact that the subsection text is collapsible. What is their purpose? I'm using the DISP_NAME values as headings, so I don't see the need for the these extra headings. Would it be possible to generate something like:

If you want a simple table for custom tag data then there is no need for custom markup at all. Simply set your Custom Tag to the required value.e.g. instead of setting IND_CT1_DISP_NAME to '<?subsection "Subsection 1 Heading" "Subsection 1Text"?>' simply set it to 'Subsection 1 Text' By definition the 'subsection' custom markup produces a collapsible section,

Yes, that's it. As always, the simplest solutions are the best.
Thanks.
