Is there any "smart" way to generate a bilingual report ?

I know I could generate two separate reports and then modify the home page to include links to the two versions, but I would like a solution which avoids duplicating all the images, svg, etc.

I have the same problem.  My ancestry is mostly German / Dutch / English.  There is a lot of textual detail that I would like to publish in two languages, once in English and once also in German or Dutch.

I guess the simplest approach would be to simply type in the details twice into each box in the GUI, once in English and once in German or Dutch, and let my website visitor scroll down to the text in his/her preferred language.  But that doesn't take care of labels, such as "birth details:", "death details:".  I would like those to be translated too.

Or, I could create three separate .gno files and publish three separate reports and then ask the visitor visiting my website to begin his/her journey by choosing a language, and I could then direct them to the appropriate report.  But that seems clunky.

Ideally I would like to avoid repetition, keep everything in one .gno file, and for the tool to allow me to enter details in multiple languages.  On each published html report page which exists in more than one language I would like to see links for the visitor to switch to the report page in his/her preferred language.  And once he/she has chosen a language I would like that choice to be the default for them for the remainder of their visit.

I know, this is probably not possible.  So, to begin with, I too would like to hear from the GenoPro team what suggestions they have for creating reports that will be consumed by people with different language preference.

Thanks.  Smile

Ron and I had many discussions about this topic, and the new architecture of GenoProX will support multiple languages.  So far, a name or a comment will have markup tags, to indicate a text is in a specific language.  Let me give you an example:

^EN^This is a comment^FR^Ceci est un comment^RU^Это комментарий

Of course, the markup tag will be invisible and a character you cannot type on the keyboard, so there is no danger a piece of text will be accidentally assigned to a foreign language.

As far as the user interface is concerned, you will be able to add columns for other languages, a bit similar as the screenshot below:

As a result, all the data will store into a single .gno file, and as far as the reports are concerned, you will be able to generate report containing a specific language, or both.  There is a lot of details to clarify, however we are working on a solution for this.

^EN^Excellent news!  Thanks.^FR^d'excellentes nouvelles! Merci.^DE^ausgezeichnete Nachrichten! Danke.

I appreciate this is not a trivial change, so it's good to know that the Genopro team don't shy away from challenges.
