I don't know if I'm stretching it too much.

Since there is included further info for a person, such as education and occupation details, I was wondering whether it would serve any purpose (I think it might) to include info such as traveling and languages. I feel it would be nice to be able to record information such as that X person spoke seven languages or that Y person traveled to 40 countries.

I don't know. Maybe this is getting out of control...

The answer for traveling will be resolved by the Occupancy record.

As far as the languages, I have to give it some thought. I don't know where to put it. Any suggestions?

I wonder how it can be accommodated there. Quite curious to see.

No strong opinion, but I would guess either (a) in a sub-section of "Education" or (b) as a sub-section of a "Skills" sheet or something similar.

I have a pretty good idea of what to do. I need to finalize the minute details.

A skills tab would work. But would this "language" thing be a drodown list, or something like the education/occupation tabs, having a "new" button, it could then include like teacher and date and place learned, or maybe just stick with naming the languages spoken for now? I don't know, it ain't up to me!

Check this site to see many languages, alive and dead, explore the site!!

About Languages

On that purpose I use the education tab.

I just make entrance about language courses which person attended. If person gained languge for itself by living among native speakers - so I put there the period that was needed to learn it.

Courses taken to master a language might work in the education tab, but what about people who grew up bilingual? They did not exactly attend a school that could be listed there.

I like the idea of a skills-tab, since it would also cover skills that a person has picked up over a long time, or taught herself - like painting or knitting. Those may not be as important, but I'd nevertheless like to be able to enter such information.

On the subject of what's to come, there are also tabs for religeous and political views planned, right? Is there any kind of roadmap of features planned for 2.1? (without specific dates, of course).

Language Courses?

What about the people that went to a book store, got a "teach yourself whatever language" book, and taught themselves by help of said book? This is why I say skills tab.

In that case I would propose to improve my idea of Hall of Fames which i posted in the other topic...

besides trophies and military medals and orders there could be everything like sport achievements and other achievements whatever you want... it just has to be structured somehow
