I'm missing field SOURCE for pictures. It is important to keep information about source of the pictures because I often do not own originals of the pictures.

Can we expect that this field will be added?

What about the "Picture discription and comments" field? Can't you use this field to write the source of the picture? Also to what you refer to as the Source of the picture? The one who owns the picture or the one who took the picture in the first place?

- Yes of course it is possible to use field Comment, that's what I do right now, but I think that there should be the same field as at Birth, Death, ..... because the source (place) of the pictures can be the same. The source of the picture is the same importance as source for birthday, death, address.....

- Source in this case do not mean Place and Picture shot date, this fields are already included in Picture propeties.

So, the source, in your point of view, is the one who holds the original picture in his hands? The one you got the picture from?

Yes, it can be a person, place in a library, book, etc. - the same as other sources of informations. Any other usage of the Source field? Let me know maybe I can do something better way.

I never thought about it.
My "collection" of pictures are of people in my family tree and I never had the need to record from whom I got it. Also I have several pictures from family events (weddings, birthdays etc.). I state in the picture the event and time of event and thats it.

Information about a picture as above can be entered through most image editors (in Irfanview: Ctrl + i ) and is called "IPTC".

Sure, in my case too.

But: I try to collect old pictures, it mean for example hundred years old and older. I do not care too much about the new one. In case of old pictures - they are hard to find, if you found some in lot of cases nobody know who is on the picture, then I have to search and to ask the oldest members of my family, then (if I'm successful) I can put them into GenoPro. I can not keep the originals, I need to scan them - and I do not want to forget where I found them. Sometimes I have a mistake and I need to rename them (or some persons on the picture) and again it would be good to have possibility to have Source field (because the sources are the same as for other fields).

The other reason is that I can add a photo of a document and then it would be good again to have possibility to record sources of the pictures/documents (often state archives...).

btw:

Another subject would be possibility to add pictures to the sources! What do I mean? For example one of my sources can be a old book which is located in an city archive. Then I go there and when I go through the book I take pictures of the pages where I found some interesting records - that's the SOURCE. For the work it would be EXCELLENT to have possibility to add copy of the picture directly to the GenoPro Source record - I often need to study and read the old writings again and again (records from the years old as  1660, 1730... are for me really difficult to read) and this can be a big help for genealogy research from side of GenoPro to organize the related documents. But is such case we have a problem: cyclic reference picture-source-picture... I do not know how to solve this :-(

And again the next necessary subject connected with pictures is help from side of GenoPro to organize the pictures. At the moment GenoPro keeps only links to your HDD and organize your files yourself. Next good improvement of GenoPro can be that GenoPro can self-organize (and separately store, not just embed) pictures just pasted (from clipboard) into it. But there is still toooo much to do (for example support for printable reports!!!) before we can think about it.

Of course but that's not what I'm talking about. Sources of pictures can be the same as sources of birthday, dead, marriage... and I'd like to see in the Source record that this person (or archive) gime me dates, names, marriages and ... some pictures. The fiels, rutines and datas of Sources are already there just to implement it to pictures record. That's it.

Anyway - if nobody needs this functionality, I can live without it, no problem but Its look strange that GenoPro can record Sources of diferent datas but not of pictures.

OK. I understand now.

I have to admit that I never saw this option in any Genealogy software that I checked. None of them had the option to source the picture, or any other attachment for that matter.
