Unfortunately, the Starter Version of Family Tree Maker has been taken offline. Maybe there were too many who wanted to convert data. I already have several Genealogy program and don't want to buy another one. I have a FTW file from my father who uses a German version of Family Tree Maker, but I don't know which version. In any case, it does not have an export or conversion function. I don't know why, but I checked myself.

So, the question is - Is there somebody willing to convert this FTW file for me? I would be most grateful.

Family Tree Legends is still available at no cost and converts some FTW files - possibly not later versions. Look at
http://www.familytreelegends.com/downloads and also look at

Family Tree Maker (Starter Edition - 2005) still seems to be available at the link
http://past.familytreemaker.com/download/starter.aspx

This is a 14 day trial version of FTW 2005, which may be able to convert your files.

Just bought Family Heritage and was able to convert my FTM tree to a gedcom file - thanks.  However, in trying to upload the tree to a website, the Family Heritage folder does show the contents.  (If I go the Programs>Computer>Libraries... route and open up the folder, its all there.  Can you help me (I am not very tech savvy....)

Hey guys! I've tried to use this format many times, but it didn't work, don't know why it's happened.

AncestorSync (http://ancestorsync.com) and/or FamilyInsight (http://ohanasoftware.com) will soon support FTM 16 for reading and can convert to any of the popular genealogy formats. We're just finishing up integration now. Come February we'll have something solid for you I wager.

I have several old FBK and FTW files with some old family ties data files.  Would you be so kind as to convert them to Gedcom for me?  I cannot add the files unfortunately.  Perhaps I can call them an allowed file type then they could be renamed FBK or FTW.

A 14 day free trial of Family Tree Maker 2005 is still available for download , it's found in a link on
 http://help.ancestry.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3673/~/opening-old-and-unsupported-files-in-family-tree-maker

This program may help you to convert your old  FTW and FBK files, depending on their versions.
