Would there be a way to use OpenStreetMap instead of Google for mapping of locations?

Yes this is possible. A while back I had a look at the javascript api Leafletjs that provides an equivalent to the Google Maps javascript API but allows use of a number of different data providers including OSM (but not Google Maps).
At the time I did not have either the energy or the enthusiasm to investigate further. Maybe if I have to spend at lot of time 'locked down' over winter I'll take another look but if anyone else would like to accept the challenge please do so. :

It's wet, windy & cold here on the south coast in the UK so I'll stay inside and take another look at implementing Leafletjs with Open Street Maps instead of Google Maps.
