I don't think this program will meet my needs... how do I cancel my membership?
By jcmorin - Monday, January 3, 2011
Everyone is free and encourage to try to the software first before purchasing. We offer extended trial when asked and the software is still even working after expiration unless you need to save your files so we don't have to refund customer.

Can you explain more yourself why the software doesn't fit anymore your needs?

I realise now that it is only suitable for a small family tree, as my 250 person tree is not readable. The auto arrange puts people on top of one another and it is too difficult to correct this manually
By appleshaw - Tuesday, January 4, 2011
You should have no difficulty with only 250 individuals. My main project has over 10 times that number. If you have looked at your data it sounds as though you have imported a gedcom file. For any size this will look a mess initially but there has been a lot of advice on this forum about cleaning this up..
Make use of the separate displays (genomaps); they can be used as temporary work areas.
If you choose an ancestor you can Select Descendants and Move them to a new display. They will still be linked to the rest of the tree. This means that you can 'pull' over related family. If you select an individual on the new display and press the key 'V' this will bring over the immediate family. In this way it is fairly straightforward to sort out the apparent ball of string produced by gedcom import.
You may find it advisable to separate the data into two distinct genomaps, which will of course be linked, as you are slightly above the recommended level of 200 individuals for a display. Not essential; I have 400 on some.

The auto arrange have it's limitation but on big tree you probably want to place them manually anyway...

I have tried numerous times to cancel my purchase w/o success. Plse refund my purchase price. The one problem, I read that it was impossible to download to a Mac computer. i have a Mac computer, therefore, I was unable to use this program. Thanks.
According to our records, you purchased GenoPro with the Registration Wizard ( http://www.genopro.com/registration/buy/ Wink on Windows XP.

Have you looked on this forum for information on running GenoPro on a Mac? There are various options you could explore.

By jcmorin - Wednesday, July 4, 2012
Hi, when you purchase GenoPro you receive the key automatically. The key is attached to an account using your email. There is no purchase with the email you currently wrote.

If you purchase with an invalid email address we can fix that.

I've look in the database for your name and did found a sale using your AOL email, so I've merge both account and send your key to your Gmail account.

Yes, because when I originally signed up with my aol account I received nothing so I tried again with another email account.  At this point it is too late because my assignment is past due.  If you could refund me my payment that would be greatly appreciated as I tried and tried to get it to work and contact your company prior to this.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
By bogistad - Wednesday, July 4, 2012
My opinion for what it's worth, I wouldn't refund a cent.

It looks suspiciously like the assignment was completed and now he wants his money back!

It really annoys me when people do this. There is plenty of opportunity to test GenoPro before purchase.
By walr - Wednesday, July 4, 2012
I agree completely with bogistad, not to often you get a company as "Fair Dinkum" as genopro,

I have been around for awhile and I can say IO've had nothing but top treatment.
By 1091691 - Wednesday, July 11, 2012
Well for your information, for what it is worth.  I purchased and waited and waited for the registration key to come to my email and it never did.  At that point, I had to use a friends computer to complete the assignment which I had to travel over an hour to get to.  I tried contacting the company numerous times and was unsuccessful because again, their system would'nt send me the information needed to do so.  With that being said, I will go ahead and file a compaint through the BBB as I think this is a very unprofessional way to deal with customers and I believe the customer service I have received has been horrible.

Also for your information, instead of being a cheap ass, my plan was to purchase the software right off the bat.  However, that didn't work for me.  Thank you for your opinion though.

Sorry to hear you have had trouble getting registered. As a long time user and observer on this forum I can say you are not the first who has had trouble. However it seems that the problems are usually at the user end; either firewall blocking messages or users having different email addresses. I see from Jean Claude's message that you were originally communicating from AOL, which seems to cause more problems than many other ISPs.
According to the forum you joined in the middle of May but did not raise a query here until the beginning of July. I think this is what has caused some people to make adverse comments.
I can only say that my experience is that GenoPro is unusual in providing understanding support.

I refunded your second purchase without asking you about it.  Can you please confirm you have been refunded your second purchase?

I signed up for the free 14 day trial. How do I cancel the account?
By appleshaw - Friday, November 28, 2014
Genopro is very relaxed about this sort of thing. If you do not wish to continue, then do not use any more. You can just uninstall the software
By jcmorin - Saturday, November 29, 2014
There is nothing to do after the 14 days, we do not have any credit card number. If you really wish to delete your account I can do that but that would also remove your forum account and the last message you just wrote.

You do not have to cancel in any way. You could just remove the software

I'm dropping the course so I won't need to make a genogram. Can I get a full refund.I did not use it at all.
By turnbull - Saturday, April 4, 2015
When I purchased this product a number of years ago, I was able to get it to work. However, in recent months, I have not been able to get it to upload in order to view my family tree online. I posted the details of the error I receive elsewhere in this forum but sadly, did not receive a response (another user posted the same error, but there was no response).

It appears to me that the product is no longer supported? Given it doesn't work for me, can I please have a refund?

Thanks

John

I have answered your post regarding the error on your GenoPro account page and hopefully you can now proceed.

I see from your familytrees publication that it was uploaded over 7 years ago.  Not many software products, if any, give a lifetime guarantee but in my opinion 7 years is a good innings!  Also there have been several updates to GenoPro since 2007.

The GenoPro web sites continue to be maintained by GenoPro Inc. (i.e. Dan & Jean-Claude Morin).  For my part I maintain, on a purely voluntary basis, a number of Report templates, or skins, and publish them on this forum so that they are freely available to GenoPro Users.  I along with a few other long-time Genopro addicts support users when possible by answering queries on this forum.

The Narrative Report in particular has undergone many improvements over the years.  The latest version can be downloaded from http://support.genopro.com/Topic28332.aspx

You will also find a link in that topic with details on how to install it.

In buying this software, I (naively) expected it would last a lifetime and be something I could pass on to generations after me. I would certainly expect the Microsoft and other software I purchase to last much longer than 7 years.

Notwithstanding, I am at a point where I am not sure how to find where the family tree I uploaded to your site resides. What menu functions would I normally go to in order to find the tree I tried to upload (said it would open in IE, but it didn't)
By genome - Wednesday, April 8, 2015
Well GenoPro is not yet dead, although it is probably safe to say development of the main user interface, genopro.exe, has.  Development and maintenance of the reports continues.

If you chose to publish your report to the GenoPro familytrees site tyhen the report will be upoloaded to your username's folder on that site (not 'my' site by the way, I am a customer, not a proprietor). So with your username turnbull the report will upload to http://familytrees.genopro.com/turnbull and you can type or paste that link into any browser address field to see your report. It currently shows the report you uploaded back in 2007. If you have not downloaded, installed and used the Latest Narrative Report skin indicated in my earlier post then some parts of the report will be unavailable, as browsers and the availability of SVG has changed.

You can also publish to a sub-folder on the familytrees site by specifying a Web Directory in the GenoPro's 'Web Publishing' dialogue. That dialogue will also show the URL to be used to access it.

Thank you for your help.

After I download http://support.genopro.com/Attachment1799.ashx , how do I install.

Is all the information on the site http://familytrees.genopro.com/turnbull viewable by the public generally? Can access be restricted?

Thanks

John
