For the first time I have received a .ged file from OS with connections to my family tree. I just don't exactly know how to take my little 102 pax from his 26,700 pax tree. Whats the correct/easiest process? As I'm a newbie, I don't know if there was ever a 'how to' for this. Can anybody spare the time?

GenoPro does not recognize the .pax format. What you need is a Gedcom file. Most genealogy software can save/export in the Gedcom (.ged) format. Using GenoPro, just open the .ged file using the standard Open File toolbar button.

Having an airline background I often state 'people' as 'pax' as on passenger lists, Sorry. I did correctly open and imported into Genpro and it's all there very nicely, but as you can imagine with 26,700 and needing to find my 102 people from this it's a little daunting. In my newbie mind frame, I assumed that I should do a 'find' on a surname and the search results correctly located all 102 people. But I'm confused. If you click on the first name in the search results it goes to that person on your tree and naturally this section might be connected to other names (via marriage) and so on and so on. How do you cut and paste or save a section to another GenproMap and how do you keep on adding more sections. Silly question - but where do you stop? I just feel i am not correctly using Genpro tools etc to make the job shorter. Do I make any sense?

If you know who is the ancestor of these 100+ people you can use GenoPro to import section of the GEDCOM file. In the "Import File" dialog box, choose "Import section of the GEDCOM file" instead of "Import full GEDCOM file", you then choose the Ancestor and the options you like and then do the Import. You should get the tree you want.Another option is to take the full tree that you imported and use GenoPro's buttons to select the descendants of th ancestor, and then copy and paste them in another GenoMap.

If the tree contains family name you are interested in they can be extracted. Use find to list them in a table (I think you have done this) Highlight all the names in the table (click on top row; move to last row; press Shift; click again). This will also select all of the people on the GenoMap.
Go to the GenoMap and place the cursor over one of the selected people so that the cursor shows a '+'. Right click to bring up a menu and from the Select sub-menu choose Entire Tree. (If you do not do this you have not got the lines joining families, nor any partners).
Make sure the cursor is still over the selection and copy and Paste. All you have to do then is tidy it up
