I found a couple of errors in my Report after uploading it. A misspelled name created a new family and I had forgotten to add some source data. I corrected both on my tree and simply reloaded it to the site exactly as I did first time. I sort of expected this to wipe out the errors and much to my surprise, they are still there. I have waited a couple of days, as advised elesewhere, to see if it might be updated but still no joy. This question has got to be easier than my last one! Sorry to be a pain.Update: a new "ftp client" tool has been released: http://www.genopro.com/help/ftp-client/

Make sure that you have not chosen the Option on the Report generator dialog to 'update report'. The Report generator does not overwrite existing files when using this option. Then ensure that you have 'refreshed' your browser and not looking at a cached page.

By "Update Report", do you mean "Resume Report" under the Options tab? If so, I defo did not check that box because I was afraid it might not overwrite. I also emptied my Temporary Internet Files and refreshed the browser so I don't think that's the problem. Actually, I see that it has now written in the missing source, but the misspelled family persists - even though the only "member" of this family's name is spelled correctly! I suppose I should be happy with that. Thank you all for your help.Oh, one other minor problemo. In the Privacy tab, I unchecked "Remove all Living Individuals" after checking "Keep names" and "Remove all dates of Birth" but the repor generator has blithely blurted out everyone's date of birth. Some folks are picky about that. How can I remove them? (Should this be a new topic?)

Should this be a new topic? The privacy filter is being re-written, but this is a current bug and it should be reported. I have tested it and found the same error.

boydgray26 (11/22/2006) Oh, one other minor problemo. Some folks are picky about that. How can I remove them? As poolzone says the privacy filter will be redone after v2.0 is released, but this is not a bug in the current filter - it is just that the way it is written can be confusing. If you uncheck 'Remove All Living Individuals' then everything on all individuals in the family tree will be reported. (The fields for 'Keep Names' and 'Remove all date of births' are greyed out, meaning they are inactive.) If you want to report on all individuals but omit dates of birth for living persons, then you should check 'Remove All Living Individuals', check 'Keep Names' and check 'Remove all date of births'. You will then find that all individuals, both living and dead, will be reported, but the dates of birth of living individuals will not be listed.

The current design has some limitations regarding for errors. If a name is changed, then the old .htm file will remain on the report. There are two options to remove an unwanted file:1. Contact GenoPro and tell me which files you want to remove from http://familytrees.genopro.com/. 2. Delete the report and generate a new one. This will delete the report history and web statistics however. We have two solutions in the future (2007) for this: 1. We will have an 'FTP client' where you will be able to list all the files, copy, modify and delete them if you wish. This 'FTP client' will look very similar as Windows Explorer but will display your files on http://familytrees.genopro.com/. 2. Add a new option to clear a report rather than delete a report. This action will delete the files of the report without erasing the history of the report.

Some folks are picky about that. How can I remove them? I made a second tree from the main archive some time ago from which I have removed all the "living" except the first generation whom I have labelled "Living" after deleting all personal details. This version I use for generating my report. When adding new family lines I add them first to the main archive (26000 names) and then copy them to the "no-living" tree (19000 names) and remove the living. I have been doing this for years. Dan, I will have to ask you to delete my tree soon without removing the home folder or the report history as you mention above as I have too many changed pages and IDs to upload and would prefer a clean upload. I am just waiting for Beta 20 and some photos from a cousin before updating. I have to say that the report generator is now mind blowing with all the new stuff!

This leaves errors on the report. The Report Generator causes errors both on my FTP site and Genopro. However I can upload over 100mb on my FTP server without error on file transfer.

We will have to take a look at this problem and find out why there are errors uploading a report. According to our logs, you are sometimes uploading more than 10,000 files and and it takes several hours. I think your all time record was uploading for 4 hours.

It seems like forever that I have been unable to upload without error, but Today the upload worked again without error. I assume some work done by Jean-Claude from the files I sent. Thank-you. I uploaded the complete report in record time, and without error on the first upload.
