Hello!
Bumping this wish from the beta time: Sorry if Im out of date on some functions, Im trying to go through it all!
In Scandinavia, it is quite normal to give your child several names, decide which one to call the child by, and then decide on the name order that sounds the best. Hence, to mark which name a person is called by (in Swedish: Tilltalsnamn), we mark this on dokuments by underlining, or, less often, capitalizing that name. In my case: Karin Anna Kristina Olsén.
In order to make this work, I could use the "nickname" for "tilltalsnamn", i.e. losing the nickname, or, put all names in the "middle names" regardless of their order, but none of these options is really desirable...
I would like the option to make a list of the names and mark the "tilltalsnamn" with some kind of marking, or just enter the number in which position it is found....
This would also make the name statistics and the "typing assistance" work better for us: now Maria Katarina Johanna gets a rank for the name "Katarina Johanna", as one name, not two.
Also, we have a large percentage of people using double last names, the maiden (or bachelor!) name followed by the common name for the couple. This is easily solved by using the "second last name". However, Id like the option to use an alternative, longer search list for finding people who change their last names: If the index could have an "expand" option, where each person is found under EACH of their possible last names...
So, John Adams, born Smith, who changed his name to Adler, would be found under: Adams, John (John Adams, b. Smith, ren. Adler) Adler, John (John Adams, b. Smith, ren. Adler) Smith, John (John Adams, b. Smith, ren. Adler)... or something!
That would make it easier for me to handle things, but it would need some... work!
Anna
