You can use a Source citation to hold this information e.g. in the 'Where In Source' field. You can set the parent Source to be say 'GRO Index' or FreeBMD etc.

One problem here is that the UK GRO system would not be applicable elsewhere. Even within this system you need the full reference, including date, as the volume numbers are different in the earlier records.

With older data I find the easiest thing is to paste the FreeBMD reference into a Comment field. With modern records you often have access to the originals.

You can rename (in Tag Editor) the existing Custom Tags for Family as District_Name etc. Problem here is Ron mentioned recently that the Report Generator does not deal with Custom Tags at presesnt

1. It would be useful to have a Marriage Date record box with ability to record marriage registration Volume and page number

2. Ditto for births and deaths
