Hi - I need help please... I have spent many many hours entering data into my system. I upgraded to version 2007. When I open my map with the new version, it opens perfectly, but after saving and opening it again, I get all sorts of errors with lines suddenly thrown all over the place linking names that are not supposed to be linked. I need to add and change data but can't due to theis problem - not sure what to do !!!

This is the error I get when I open the same file after saving it: "

Opening file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Carl\My Documents\van blerk website\tree\test.gno'...
Reading file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Carl\My Documents\van blerk website\tree\test.gno'...

Can you please give me a bit more history about the .gno file?  For instance, can you tell which Beta you used and if you manually edited the .xml file or what function of GenoPro you used.  So far, I have seen duplicate IDs for pictures when using GenoPro 1.x after using the Beta, but never seen duplicate IDs with individual and families.

Hi - sorry it has taken me so long to get back ... I had a bit of a crisis in my business, but all is back on track and it seems so is my life  :-)

Anyhow, back to the problem at hand ... I initially used a demo version which my brother downloaded and set up for me.  It was Version 2.b15  (BETA). (Still on my PC)

I entered the data bit by bit in the main screen, ie. didn't edit any other files, so not sure where I went wrong ...

I would try to identify the duplicate links and correct them one by one if I could just see what links they are.  The error (as per the example above) gives id numbers, how do I see on the tree what people those id's are referring to ?  (Does that make sense as to what i'm asking?)

Thanks for the help !!!

To find out who`s ID belongs to whom you have to open the table > individuals/families. You may have copied the same person on more than one Genomap instead of using Hyperlinks.

Hi, i have just opened a saved file and every name has an ID number of some kind showing on there - id00013 as an example - above the name?  How do I get rid of that?

Also, how do I position the genogram to print on one page instead of splitting off into two?

Thanks,

Open the Display menu (4th on top menu) and select the features you want displayed. There is a long list but you can only select the items as listed. They are part of the program and can not be changed. If the features you want are not listed then you can create a Custom Tag to include anything. The Forum has information about Tags, as does the Help section

You can change the number of pages used for printing, and their orientation, from Page Layout on the File menu.

The next update will include an option for a single-page printing and will automatically adjust the layout and zoom to fit the genogram on the paper dimension.
