I'd love to be able to scroll the family tree like you can sroll a Google map. Maps.google.co.uk or maps.google.com
I think Google uses Ajax (Atlas from Microsoft) technology to make the smooth scrolling happen. I find the tiny incremental scrolling of a family tree tedious and near impractical for a reasonable family tree.

It's not the same, I know, but have you found the pan feature if you use a 3 button mouse? Depress the central button (or scroll wheel) and drag the display.

Also it is recommended that a large display is broken into separate GenoMaps, although I do not always do this as much is recommended. I think the svg graphics in the Report Generator work best with less than 200 individuals

This topic has been discussed several times. Yes it would be nice, however there is a limitation in the SVG viewers, particularly the built-in Firefox viewer. My reccomendation is that you keep each genomap relatively small e.g. 200 individuals, and link genomaps using GenoPro's hyperlink feature. I am looking at other technologies for viewing the Genomap, possibly Flash, but this is some way off.

You may not be aware of the fact that with the IE & Adobe SVG Viewer you can pan the Genomap by holding down the Alt key and dragging with the mouse. There are also keyboard controls for zoom in/zoom area/zoom out - Ctrl & click to Zoom in; Ctrl & drag to zoom area; Ctrl/Shift & click to zoom out. These are much faster than the javascript based icon controls.

Apologies for the overlap, I seem to have posted at the same time as appleshaw.

Thanks for the response.
Firstly I was using FireFox and performance when viewing the map is terrible.I switched to IE, Installed the SVG viewer and all is well even using the controls on the page. I also didn't know about the controls to move the page around.

Thanks again.
