In the old program you had default skins and language support for German and italian. Now in GenPro you seemed to have taken that away, or made it very difficult to find, in GenPro. I hope you don't expect the end user to provide language translation and base reporting for other group 1 and 2 languages!? If not, could you kindly point me to the skins for german and italian? And not the forum please. The forum does not search properly and is difficult to navigate (think you need a wiki or moin-moin). Appreciate any help. If you can do those two, polish would be cool too.

Thanks.

If I understand correctly what you are trying to do is create a new skin for the GenoPro report. In the past the default skin, was indeed, "outside" of GenoPro. Now it was moved "into" GenoPro.

If you want to create a new skin, Goto: Tools > Generate Report (or press the "Generate Report" button). Then press the "New Skin..." button (first on the left hand side, in the  "Report Skin" section).

GenoPro will then create a new folder "Customized English Narrative Report" under the "Skins" folder and will copy all the files you need there. You will have to modify those file in order to get your own skin.

In the old program you had default skins and language support for German and italian.

GenoPro 1.99 had skins in 12 languages, including German and Italian.  Those skins were in Rich-Text Format (RTF) and have been removed because they don't work with the new report engine.  GenoPro 2007 uses Unicode and which require special handling for RTF.  At the moment, the report generator generates only HTML reports.  We are considering other alternative to substitute the RTF reports.

Ok, a bit of reply.

I tried what you asked and received the following. Unfortunately I use a 64bit machine. I wonder why you don't ask where you want me to lay this skin down first. Is there anyway to override?

Copying skin 'Customized English Narrative Report' to folder 'C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro\Skins\Customized English Narrative Report\'...
Unable to write file 'C:\Program Files (x86)\GenoPro\Skins\Customized English Narrative Report\clusterer2.js': Access Denied. Unable to create directory and/or file because of security permissions. Please make sure the file or folder is not read-only

I took a cursory look at things and it seems to me thaat GenoPro is just crawfishing here. Most of the work is in the Dictionany and Config XML documents. So I am at a lose for why you haven't supplied these for all languages in a default form. I agree your current design is very flexible and that it can be edited and extended by the user is a definite value add, make no mistake. But you need some default translations out-of-the-box for most type-1 languages (english and western European).

In any case, I guess they will be some time in coming. Therefore, I guess as part of this project I must resign myself to providing translations for German, Italian and Hungarian, perhaps Ruthenian(?)

I agree.  The report generator and the language dictionary took a new direction.  I am considering writing more code to support multiple language dictionaries per skin (to share the same templates), as well as having tools to ease the translation.  We also have plans to have a "collaboration system" so people can share their work thru our server.
