In my research I have several times come across children living with their grandparents (in census data) with no indication of which of their grandparents' children are the parent(s).

Would it be possible to have a 'link as grandchild' option? Possibly this could be done as a social relationship?

You also get nephew or niece which can also cause similar problems. One option mentioned in

is to have the ability to mark a link in a fifth way ie not a legal or birth contact. This could be used here, with a note attached to the link

It is of course possible to insert dummy parents until the true relationship is established.
