I have read the other references about photos and would appreciate it if you can confirm that there is no way of taking photos along with a tree when passing them to another computer, other than copying all photos separately and putting them in a folder on the second computer with the same name. It all seems too troublesome and unsatisfactory to bother, which is a shame...

If this is the case, is there no way of exporting a whole tree including photos into some other sort of file without this fiddly keeping track of lots of photos?

At the moment, the best way is generating an HTML report.  Your HTML report will include all the pictures.  You are welcome to publish a password-protected report at http://FamilyTrees.GenoPro.com and have other members review it.

As soon as the translation of GenoPro is complete, we will start working on a collaboration system.  Our collaboration system will sharing and editing family trees with pictures over the Internet.  Our collaboration module will be a great feature for people like you.

thank you for confirming what i thought was the case.

I am developing our tree with the help of someone else. We regularly pass over the tree and the other one will amend it.
Going back to my other question: is the only way to use photos is to save the same set of photos with the same names in the same folder on both computers?

Same names yes but not necessarily the same folders. You can use the Tools / Relink Pictures to switch folders.
