Hello: I uploaded my report on July 6, 2007 to familytrees.genopro.com and then used your new FTP client to upload other files pertinent to the web page. There is clearly something in this directory as when I point my browser to http://familytrees.genopro.com/tonyerin/Favata.htm , the page loads perfectly. However, when I attempted to sign in on July 7 using your FTP client, I am seeing nothing in terms of files and directories. It doesn't even give me the option to select a report in the drop-down box, as it cannot seem to identify a report that can be selected. Advice please? Also, is there a way one can use their own FTP software, i.e., the built in capability of Internet Explorer? If so, how, i.e., what would be the FTP server to direct the software to log on to?
Many Thanks, Tony

Dear Tony,According to our logs, yesterday (July 6 at 5:50:52 PM EST), you deleted the root report of your account using our FTP Client. Once a report is deleted, it is deleted, including its statistics and accessibility. Our FTP Client litst all available reports; and if there are no report available, the FTP Client may not work at all. What you have to do is generate a new report, and then use the FTP Client to tweak the files for that report. This FTP Client is our first release; eventually GenoPro will have this functionalit built-in with more options. This is strange. We will investigate this on Monday. Also, is there a way one can use their own FTP software, i.e., the built in capability of Internet Explorer? The problem is the server http://familytrees.genopro.com/ is not an FTP server. We designed our own publishing protocol and using a hybrid system of database with external files. When you upload a file to http://familytrees.genopro.com/, the server does a lot more work underneath than just writing a file to disk. This is why we have to provide our own FTP Client.

Tony Are you sure the data is being downloaded from the server and not coming from the cache on your PC? This is quite possible and can be a nuisance at times as you upgrade your report and then still see the earlier version. Microsoft trying to save you time. Depending on which browser you use there are different ways of flushing the cache. FireFox uses Tools; Clear Private Data - and then select Cache.

Are you sure the data is being downloaded from the server and not coming from the cache on your PC? I was able to view the page. Our publishing protocol maintains a list of files per report, and if a file was added manually, it is possible it is not deleted.

To use the FTP client, you must have at least one publication, since you deleted your publication none of them are listed.I've manually recreated a fake publication in your root folder so you should be able to see your files and uploading new one. Let me know if this solved your issue regarding this external tool.
