I would find it useful to have a feature that automatically sets a person to deceased when their birthdate makes them older than a certain user-specified age.
It is often useful to be able to explain your relationship to someone in terms of words, eg Third Cousin, Once Removed. Would it be possible to impliment a feature that would allow you to select two people on a genogram and have their relationship described in this way?
Thanks

I've thought a little bit about this as well, as it's something I'd like to see implemented.
There were two ways I thought about doing it (as a 3rd-party developer):
1. Create a simple application to allow the user to pick one "focal" person, then update the XML file with a custom field containing their relationship to the "focal" person in string format. This would allow the display of the data in the genogram and for printing. 2. Create a simple application to allow the user to pick two individuals and then simply print out their relationship, without altering the XML at all.
I found this site valuable for looking at the mechanics of all of the possible relationships: http://oakroadsystems.com/genl/relation.htm

Thanks. I saved the page on my computer. Sometimes a web page disappear!! Jimternet (8/12/2007) I would find it useful to have a feature that automatically sets a person to deceased when their birthdate makes them older than a certain user-specified age.I added a new feature to the Table Layout: 1. Using the Table Layout (Ctrl+T), click on the Age column to sort everyone by age. 2. Hold the Shift key to select anyone older than a specified age. In this example, I selected anyone older than 30 years old. 3. Right click to get the context menu and select Individuals Deceased. GenoPro will make everyone selected as deceased. Of course, this is not as having the auto-deceased, however with 4 mouse clicks, you can get the job done. You will have to wait for the next update (v2.0.1.0) to get this new feature.
