Hi Everyone,

What is the correct way to place parentheses for a female in Genealogy? Her maiden name or her married name? For ex., my name is Mark Smith. My wife's maiden name is Cook. Would hers be Connie (Cook) Smith? Or Connie Cook (Smith)?

Thanks!

Not sure about 'correct', but the usual custom in genealogy is to use birth names at all times, and the relationship is expressed in other ways. In GenoPro the diagram shows her (present) husband and this is shown in many other ways.

If you want to use parentheses you could put it into 'Second Last Name' and it will then be displayed with parentheses. It is up to you to decide how you use the program - but it would be useful to make a note about this somewhere.
