You can select an individual, and click on the toolbar button "Select Ancestors" or "Select Descendants", then copy & paste the selection to a new document. Click on the AutoArrange to create a symmetric layout. You will then have a tree of ancestors and/or descendants you can print or include to a presentation software or word processing.

I feel, the question is not this. Currently the elders (ancestors) are in the top of the page, while their descendants are in the bottow. Is it possible to flip this? Like a real tree, where the roots are down and the branches and leaves are up

Thank you, but how can I "create a symmetric layout" using Autoarrange? There are no any options in Autoarrange

Is it possible to flip this? Like a real tree, where the roots are down and the branches and leaves are up At present you have to do this manually; it is perfectly possible but would take time on a large tree. See image to see alternative versions of the same data; right hand version copied and chaged manually
If this was a widespread requirement it could be added to the wishlist for the next version. I imagine it is a case of reversing the vertical co-ordinates, so the graphic bit would be staightforward. Not sure how it would fit into the structure

It could be interesting - however, it is working for smaller trees only - if someone would like to print a "real tree" out of the details. This means a tree shaped background, with ancestor in the root and descendants on the leaves and branches. Here, see the family tree print.

It is possile to reverse the co-ordinates and produce an 'inverted' display. I exported the left hand display as an XML file and then converted y-co-ordinates to negative values to get the second version. So in theory a script could be developed to automate the process - beyond my abilities!

Can you tell me a bit more how you got the negative coordinates. Sure, I can add an option to flip the y-coordinate while importing.By the way, the AutoArrange will produce a symmetric tree if you only have ancestors and descendants. The AutoArrange has difficulties when arranging complex family trees with all the relatives.
