Thanks gentlemen!

I don't know the mechanics of how to use the workarounds you've mentioned, but you've given me the keywords I need to figure it out.  The functionality you're considering adding to the reports would also cover the situations I mentioned more than adequately and I'm looking forward to seeing them included.  I like how open you are to making improvements in the software package.

PS.  Though the nickname is genderless, this Narnian is a guy.

I also thought of these 'past' nature of ERs and SRs but never raised the subject. Glad Narnian did it in his/her question 2.
Ron's answer brings me to the following suggestion (for Genopro):
So far there are a few 'system' custom tags pertaining to some objects: document ChangeParameters, NarrativeStyle for Union, Divorce, Edu and Occupation, Place Name.Gender/Plural, SocialEntities Extant, ... and now the proposed Extant for ERs and SRs. I don't even know them all, including the Extant one for SocialEntities!
So my suggestion, if not already provided, is to add up a list (with explanations) of these, so far supported, 'system' tags somewhere within the Help file so that Users can be aware of and take advantage of these Tags for fully customizing their narratives. This list should, of course, be updated whenever addition of new tags is made.
Thank you,
JC

You have raised two very valid points here.

I will look into the possiblility of adding an extra 'grandparents via mother's or father's adoption' phrase to the reports. In the mean time I can only suggest using a 'relative of' social relationship with comments to expand the details.

There are also cases of children 'adopting' people as 'grandparents' were they have none living of their own. I will not be able to report such cases unless the pedigree link can be expanded to show 'grandparent adoption'.

This issue regarding the tense of the emotional & social relationship phrases looks easier to deal with. There is already a custom tag 'Extant' that can be used with Social Entities and be set the N to indicate that the entity is no longer in existence. I will enhance the report code so that it will take account of  an 'Extant' custom tag that you can add to your Emotional or Social Relationships to so show that they are no longer current. This should be available shortly.

These two questions are only vaguely related.  I couldn't find a post on the subject.  I'm using imaginary names to represent real people in my tree.

Question 1: Showing legal ancestors instead of biological ancestors:

Jill was adopted by her stepfather, Ron.  She has a negative/hostile relationship with her biological father (Steve) who has been out of contact with the family for over 25 years.  When you view Jill's son's webpage in the report, you only see the biological father Steve mentioned as a grandparent and in the pedigree.  There is no mention of the "adopted grandfather" -- Ron.  Is there a way to get the report to show the adopted grandfather's name (Ron)?

Question 2: Past tense in emotional relationships

In the emotional relationship, Jill's mother (Jane) was physically abused by Jill's biological father (Steve) whom she was married to at the time.  If I use the emotional relationship tool to show abuse, it comes up present tense (Jane is being abused by Steve).  Is there a way to show that it's past tense? (Jane was abused by Steve, until she divorced him).
