Contacted the owner to advise that he had incorrect information on his Family Tree (referring to me)....He posted that I was married to DCP.  When in reality I am married to RD.  RD and I are not happy about this error and it is causing undue stress.

The owner's wife has advised that the owner of this particluar family tree has passed away.  I need my name removed.  The wife will not assist/update this family tree.. Help....What can I do to have my name removed from this family Tree??

The problem you describe is important but is not straightforward. As you raise the problem on this forum, presumably someone has used GenoPro to produce this report. You mention that the author ie 'owner' of this report has died, which makes it difficult to sort out. You do not say if the report has been published on the GenoPro familytrees web site or on another site. If on another web site then you will have to address that separately

GenoPro reports have the facility to exclude information about living people and it is normal courtesy to use this feature unless you have permission from the people in the report. This has obviously not happened in this case.

You also do not say whether the information in the report is just plain wrong or describes a previous situation. If the situation described in the report was correct at an earlier time then this is an example of a family history study displaying embarrassing information. This has been raised on this forum before and the answer is to exclude information about living people.

As the author of the report can not make any alterations it would have to be through the controllers of this site. The simplest solution is to remove the Report but no internet operator likes to do this as it is the beginning of censorship. Also once you start policing sites the process can create all sorts of problems, in addition to taking time - which is a cost to the operator.

I hope this does not make it sound as though nothing can or should be done. I suggest you send a direct message to GenoPro Support and put 'GenoPro Report Problem' as the message header. Mention any relations you have had with DCP (which might explain how this all started). It is possible that the report can be republished with living people removed from it, as the basic data is normally on the web site as a file familytrees.gno

Dee,

I removed all the instances of your name from the report.  It will take a few weeks for Google to fully remove everything from its index.
