Look at Howard's previous posting. You have to select the display of nick name from the menu where you enter the names. Under the General Tab there is a box under the one labeled
'Full Name' called 'Display Name'. Here you can choose various alternative ways to show the name. As Howard also points out, you also set this to be default for all entries

Thanks appleshaw. Yes, I'm using the current version of GenoPro. I'm running XP. My Display settings are as you show. That puts the dates on the line above the circle or square for each person. However, when I check nickname, the dates go away and are replaced in that space with the nicknames, and "Year of birth and year of death" becomes unchecked in the menu. It seems to be one or the other. I thought maybe there weren't enough lines available; but when I check 6 or 7 under "display lines", it just makes the dates take up two lines--Still can't see nickname at the same time. It seems that only one item under "Display" can be checked at a  time.

That's what I thought, too. However, when I select nickname, the dates disappear.

You are choosing 'nickname' on the wrong menu. Instead of Display>Name>Nick Name, either use an Individual's properties and choose a combination including the nickname in the dropdown for Display Name, or to select it as the default for all individuals, go to File>Properties... and click on the Automatic/Default tab. On the Display Name there are various combinations containing Nick.

Should work. Your forum posting does not show which version of GenoPro you are using but I asume it is 2.0.1.6. Are you on XP or Vista? in case it makes a difference. Check the Display options and you should get this

To get the nick name displayed you need to select it from the options under 'Display Name' on the front menu. Dates you want should be automatic when you enter them on the relevant places
