I am have recently purchased Geno pro 2007 but have not been able to open older .gno files that I produced in an older version of the program. I get the following message when I try and open these files

Opening file 'D:\Marks Old Files\User\My Documents\GenoPro\lovefamily1.gno'...
Reading file 'D:\Marks Old Files\User\My Documents\GenoPro\lovefamily1.gno'...
Cannot import text file because its format is unknown to GenoPro. Please supply a valid XML or Gedcom file.

I cannot run the old Genopro program on my new computer either. I was running XP but my new PC is running Vista. Any ideas?

Mark

You are still showing on the forum as using 1.99. If you go to http://www.genopro.com/beta/archives/ you can download a copy of that version. I am sure that even with Vista you can run this in parallel with the current version. Open your files and then export as xml.

Only worry is that I find that 2.0.1.6 will open version 1 files.
Did you use Beta at any time?
Good luck

I did use beta. I have downloaded 1.99 but still cannot open files. I think I will go back to my old computer and try and export as gedcom and import into 2007 version. Thanks for help

If you are using 1.99 it will not recognize later files. I suggest you download the latest version - your purchase of v.1 includes upgrade to 2 and the key will work for both.
If you try to open your old file it will probably not work but will identify the Beta version used and tell you what to do. It might even open the file - it does work on my old v.1 files but there were changes of file structure during development and you will probably need the original program from the archive
