Background

At regular intervals, after having updated my family tree, I need to update my web sites (plural) as well.  This is done by generating different reports from a single GNO database.  During such an update, I would typically generate four different reports:

1.  A narrative report containing all details on all individuals -- This "confidential" report will be hosted on a web server offering password protected access and be consulted by family members only.

2.  A narrative report where all details related to living individuals would have been removed -- This "public" report will be hosted on a web server without specific access protection.

3.  A narrative report of part of the GenoGram, limited to two or more GenoMaps containing all details, including those of living individuals -- This "unclassified" report will be hosted on a web server, open to public access.  The details of the living people can be disclosed since the individuals concerned are "public figures" like movie stars, politicians or royalties, whose personal details are publicly known anyhow.

4.  A GEDCOM file, in standard GEDCOM format, without pictures, notes, etc. -- This file is used to update another web server which only accepts standard GEDCOM files as input.  Details on living individuals are filtered out during upload.

(My intentions are to generate the first three reports in up to three different languages as well.)

Problem description

For each of these reports I need to remember which input I need to select, which skin I need to use, which parameters I need to set and what the destination is.  Right now I use a MS Word document to store the information on options and selections I need to make and where I need to maken them.  I even have to record the report description since this will be different for each report.

GenoPro does remember some of the settings used with the last generated report but not those used with previous ones and even resets some them to their default values after each generation.

Proposal

I believe we need a way to define reports at a higher level - I call it GenoProjects - where all of the specified sources, destinations, formats and options would be memorised and available for simple selection later on, removing the need of having to remember and re-specify all these parameters.

Maybe this is something that could be interesting for a future version.  What is your opinion?
