I have for a long time had problems with the google maps. It tells me I need anothner key when I open my tree on the net - which I have done several times - but nothing works. Where exactly do I have to put this key to make the maps work?? It worked once - a long time ago - but I can't remember what I did. I have my own website.

There has been a lot of discussion about this on the forum - try using the search facility.

Two main problems have occurred.

Google changed the way the link worked and so Ron had to update the Report skin, so make sure that you have the latest version.

If you publish on your own site you need your own Google Key, which it sounds as though you have.

To use this when generating a Report make sure on the Options tag that the top box is not ticked. Then a menu will load and here you can select 'Google Map Settings' where you will see a box to enter your own key.

Well - I have tried all this - the key seems to change when I put it in the Api Key slut at the Google map settings. However - when I have Generated and go back and generate again the old key is there. When I press the "Overview Map of all geocoded places" a map comes up showing the world several times, but when I press some of my own places nothing happens. I have tried to search this forum but haven't been able to solve the problem. And I have the newest version of Genopro

The default settings are in Config.xml in the skin that you produce your report from. You can change the default i9n this file to your own Google API.

There are better ways to do this , discussed under How to customise your report

One other thought. Although you are using the latest version of GenoPro, have you the latest skin? When you generate a report, on the home page there should be this note

'using custom skin template English Narrative Report version 2.0.1.7.'
