I have a problem with Report Generator - 2.0.1.6 (Rev 2009.10.01). If an address has a comment - it displays the first line of the comment rather than the address per se.  Is this an option or feature/bug ?

Can anyone help.

Thanks

Steve

Yes it is a bug. I did read your earlier respoinse on this but then it slipped my mind (it's an age thing).

This problem stems from when a contact was just that, a contact but no occupancy bit and that there is no clear indication of what the title of a contact should be. There is a 'hack' solution in that you can create a Custom Tag 'Title' for Contacts and put the desired title in there. The current pecking order for candidates to be a contact title are: 1. 'Title' custom tag, 2. Contact Summary(phone, fax, email, mobile, web page), 3.1st line of comment, 4. occupancy place, 5 Contact ID.

Obviously this needs to change - may I'll add a config option.

Many thanks for the swift response.  I have found a work around - simply having a blank line (carriage return) as the first line of the notes and it works.

But, for me that is a lot of comments to edit !  So I may delay until there is a fix.

But there is an advantage to that - it looks neater.  This is an example of inserting a blank line into the notes.

Whereas without the blank line it looks like this

where the first line is indented by a few characters.  This would seem to apply to birth/death/marriage notes. If you are going to make a change - may I suggest that you skip a line for notes fields so that they line up nicely.  Likewise put one at the end, so it does run immediately into the next heading.

Many thanks

I have now made a change that hopefully sorts this. see Latest English Narrative Report

The pecking order is now: Custom 'Title' tag, Contact Summary(phone, fax, email, mobile, web), Occupancy place, 1st line of Comment, Contact ID., i.e. Occupancy place is promoted above comment.

A 'Presentation Settings' Config entry 'ContactTitle' gives preferrred pecking order, default TSOCI as above.
