I would love to be able to add pdf files to the tree, like where u can add pictures. Cause sometimes i can download jpg or pdf and mostly these are text-oriented documents.

Not sure what you want to do. You can link files such as pdf etc on the Source tab. Open a source and click the Edit button and bottom right you can Browse for a file (or add an external link). To access the file click the Open URL and it will appear in its associated program

I would also be very interested in adding pdf documents.  Some documents are not really sources.  For example, one of my wife's ancestors wrote a brief autobiography which I have transcribed.  An interface similar to that for pictures would be ideal.

Isn't a pdf document a source? You can link sources to other features. For instance if you have a school report you can open the Education tag/menu; click New to add a new item; click Edit to open the sub menu and then click the Source tag to enter the link.

This is a bit involved, but it does provide a link for the document to the appropriate place in the family tree.

I know I can add them via sources, but I would also like to add PDF documents to my genotree similar to images. I have a lot of PDF files downloaded from a website which show city registry entries. They are in fact images, but I could only download them as PDF. Now I could upload them to my own site, then link to it via the sources tab, but this seems a bit involved for something that could also be simply automated. Add it to the individual and it gets linked & uploaded automatically to the right place.

If the original files were downloaded is it possible to provide a link to that source, rather than you re-loading the document elsewhere? I realise that if you want to select a few pages this may not work.
Another point is that re-publishing a document could lead to copyright infringement. Depends on the source but providing a link to the original avoids any problem

"They are in fact images, but I could only download them as PDF." So you need a converter, which will make picture (JPG or something like this) from your PDFs? If so, google Smile
