I've read a buch of the search results for Auto Arrange in GenoPro 2007 - and I undestand that it is a complex "machine" - however, I did not see this discussed in the results I read ...

Is there a way to auto-arrange a "simple" tree (direct ancestors only - no Cousins, Uncles, etc... but still 300+ people) so that it is arranged by generation?

What I get when I import the Gedcom (or using Auto Arrange) ... http://www.paul-cooper.ca/images/DA2.jpg

What I want (after a couple hours of manually re-arranging the tree) ... http://www.paul-cooper.ca/images/DA1.jpg

I'll understand if it's not possible, but to me, it seems the only logical way of sorting something like this.

Thanks.

There has been much anguish about this problem, as you have seen. In fact an automatic arrange is very difficult as there are so many possibilities.
One help exists; use the 'Autoarrange Selection' from the Tools menu. If you select an individual, followed by Select 'Ancestor Tree' this will give a useful result on a small sample. You could move this to another GenoMap and repeat the process, possibly using the Link function to join them.
One other way of adding to the new display is to select an individual and press key 'V'. This will copy the immediate family across, possibly not to the best position but can easily be moved as it is still a selection
