Hi, I have no problem opening the second link under Windows XP with Firefox 3.5.7, IE 6 or Chrome 4. Try different browser, maybe your browser settings are not correct.

I tried using my notebook which has firefly and that did work better.

my desktop has XP and IE8

I haven't changed my settings recently, but I took your advice and reduced my security setting to medium and my cookies to low; still no good.

I think to problem is on the front page or in the frames because if I type the html of an inside page (Like .... familytrees.genopro.com/HeatherMLloyd/source.htm ) the page will come up fine then the frames will attempt to enclose it and i get this error message;

"this website needs a different Google maps API key.  A new key can be genereated at http://code.google.com/apis/maps  "

I followed the link but don't know what to do with the code.  Which document does it go into?

as you can tell I'm not good at this technical stuff.  I'm only in my 30's but this kind of stuff makes me feel like an old dinosaur or something.  I just don't get it.   Unsure

The basic report loads with no problem but from your message I thought to try the Google map and there is obviously something wrong here at least.
If you generate the report on your PC is that OK?
If there are problems, check that you have the latest skin.
If you do not pay for internet use then the easiest course is to delete the report, using Control Panel on this forum and then reload it.
You could also just overwrite the existing report but I prefer to wipe and start again

When I open the report on my Pc it works fine.

I deleted the whole report using control panel and re-uploaded

I tried english narritive instead of custom

Tried turning off the google maps option in the pop-up menu

I still can't open the report on my desktop (works fine on my notebook-firefly)

I don't know if it is a problem with internet explorer of some kind of error with the report

it tries to open but then stops and the IE window just stuts down on its own

Thankyou for everone who has given their ideas so far.  This is frustrating.

Are you sure that the report on your PC is completely OK? When I looked at your site it appears to be fine at first. However when I started to look at a place, I used Tucson, as I move the cursor over the page it went black over the text.
Not sure what could cause that but it would help if it did not occur on the local version of the report.

Hi,

I am using Windows XP Pro (SP2), and Firefox ver 3.5.7.
When I open the link in post # 25334; it loads OK; I can navigate to the place "Tuscon" refered to in previous post, and it loads no problem.

{{
Tucson, Arizona, USA
Tucson, Arizona, USA is a city and its address is Tucson, Arizona USA.

* Place References (2)
o Parent Place: Arizona, USA
o 1996 Individual: William Dorman Monroe (d. 1996.12 )
}}

Above does have has graphics & text formatting when viewed in Firefox, it's been lost in cut and paste to this post.

The link also works with XP and IE6, can navigate to "Tuscon" OK. ( I do not have a later version of IE to check with)

Hi Heather,
Your 1st report, generated as user 173279, appears to contain files from the Report skin itself, rather than files generated BY the Report skin. I don't see how this could occur, unless the files were copied there by say the FTP client.

Your 2nd report as HeatherMLoyd does seems to be OK, except that it has been generated using an out of date version of the Narrative Report skin. There have been a number of revisions since the version you are using that have been posted on this forum, one of which fixes a problem in reports that manifests itself when opened with IE8, as is the case here. Please download the latest Narrative Report skin and unzip it into a folder below your GenoPro Skins folder, and then run the report generation again using this latest skin. You should be able to select the folder you used in the drop down list of Reports.
