I want to attach a military history document to an
individual
and
find
the tags
option
confusing to say the least. I visualize something similar to a
photo
attachment method so that the whole
tree
/photo's/documents may be burned to DVD for passing on. Clarification appreciated.

It can be a bit difficult to find at first. As I understand it, you want to attach a document to an individual.
From the individual menu select
Source
and there fill in information about the document. (You may have to select New to start a new Source)
The less than obvious bit, which should give you what you want, is from this Source menu click on Edit. This will open a new menu, Source/Citation Properties, and near bottom right is a box Source File or URL. To the right of this is a Browse button which will allow you to connect to your document.
When you use this feature the URL will automatically
link
to the program that will load the file.
I am not sure how you want to use this. It may need work if you wish to
publish
or
send
to another person; but the facility exists

Agree with grand master. From the source tab you can include documents. I have included my great grand fathers Military records and a significant selection of census records. What I have had to do is scan them in as jpeg files although you will have to use a suitable resolution that someone can read when they click to enlarge the document.

There is one more way to do it. Create a folder in your skin, name this folder i.e."myfiles" and
place
all your documents you want to upload into this folder. The documents can be any document, but the best way is PDF or JPG.
Make sure you point to this folder in your source. Since military service is some kind of
occupation
, I would list these "jobs" there and have the attachments as above linked from a source created under these "jobs".
