I have been using Genopro to record my
family history
for many
years
and have helped quite a few other people to research their familes. I have several
trees
saved on my computer. It has come to my notice recently that a message I left on a
Genealogy
website in 2002 has been answered. The trouble is, I have no idea whose
family the names
are from. I was very new to research in 2002 & stupidy thought I would remember everything !! I've tried searching my files & folders, but cannot locate the names I had asked
about
. I feel so stupid. Can anyone offer advice on how to
search
my Genopro files for individuals? Hope I've made myself clear.

The GenoPro files are stored in a zipped format so are not too easy to search externally. so this is only a problem where you have many
separate files
.
Open a GenoPro
file and use the search
facility (Ctrl+F) and start with the surname. You can also search on the Display Name ie forename & surname but this might not work if you put in different forenames.
Sympathise with the problem of memory. I have many records where I can not remember exactly the
source
. When I put them in, thought it would be obvious!

One solution is to search for all the .gno files on your drives. Then, double-click on them to open them with GenoPro. Use Ctrl+F to search for a name. If there is a match, then GenoPro will display the individuals in the
Table Layout
.
