Hi,
I downloaded your fantastic GenoPro about 6 years ago and amazingly my computer survived this long too so that I've been happily using the basic free version (with purchase-prompt boxes) which was available at that time - version 1.91b.  I've been using it for family history research, for me it's far superior to all the other tree-building programmes because the layout is so clear and simple.

I really didn't mind the pop-up box which appeared each time I opened or saved, although I did once explore your site while considering whether to buy the full version GenoPro Gold.  I decided against it because I really didn't need all the other functions nor did I want all the complicated screen layout with so many other buttons.

Recently my PC has become unreliable and I'm in the process of moving to a newer one - I was happy to find that there's still a free-download button on your website and installed GenoPro on my revised system . . . . . . only to find that it's now a strangled version of the one I didn't want
Sad
Please helpIs there a way I can just have version 1.91b instead? Smile

I am not connected to this product's developers other than being a customer but please permit me to make an observation. If you have used the free version for 6 years, which is basically a trial version, you have had a very good run. At $49, purchasing GenoPro is a real bargain and you will be pleasantly surprised at the new features and improvements introduced since the version you have been using. This also allows you to obtain future upgrades and gets rid of that annoying pop-up.

The developers of GenoPro spend endless hours improving and developing this product from which it's users receive much enjoyment. Don't you think they deserve some compensation for their efforts?

Bob.

I do appreciate the points you raise bogistad, and I agree that the developers have put masses of work into creating such a useful piece of software.   However as I mentioned earlier I really don't want or need all the new features & improvements, the basic version just means I can open and read the family trees I created several years ago.

If I was still actively doing family history research I might think about going for the Gold version, but while I agree that it's less expensive than some of the other family-tree software out there, frankly it's beyond my budget :o(

Thanks to both for your prompt replies though, it's nice to find such a well-supported forum!

You can with the latest version.  You need a registration key only to save documents larger than 25 individuals.  The latest update is available at http://www.genopro.com/monica/
