The Descendants Tree Chart report skin does not itself copy pictures to the output area. The assumption was that this report would be generated into the same folders as the Narrative Report and that the pictures uploaded by the Narrative Report would be accessible, i.e. in the 'pictures' folder. If this is not the case for your report then you will need to copy the required  pictures manually e.g. using the GenoPro FTP client, to a folder named 'pictures' at the same level as the 'descendants' folder

My understanding is that at present the Report Generator copies ALL pictures in the cloned .gno file to the output folder nominated in the '_PathPictures' tag within Config.xml. This I felt was undesirable and so the tag is set to null for the Descendants Tree Chart skin preventing any pictures from being copied.

I will take another look and see if it is possible to copy only the pictures referenced in the Tree Chart.

Hi Ron

Is there "a right way to organize" the folders in order that pictures are seen by the Descendant Tree report.  In my previous letter reported that I managed to see pictures but then I went home (folder structure should be the same) and generated the report.  As result the system was not able to show the píctures but it showed picture names and the closing button just the picture was missing.  BR, Jarmo

Hi Ron

I found it - heureka!  w00t

Just had chosen 3rd check box in "Generate Report / Options" but when changed it to the 1st check box I got all pictures visible in Descendants Tree report.

Does this mean than if I move this html structure into some other network it doesn't show the pictures anymore because I've chosen 1st option/"make s link to all fiels in my computer"?  Jarmo

Hi Ron

Excellent!  Now I was able to see the report from my link in index.html page, as expected. Smile   Thank youuuuu, the Christmas is here!  Now I know that reports generated are linkable from self made html pages if requested correctly ie. just do it as you advised/instructed.

The only drawback was that when trying to launch a photograph (from Camera icon) in the report, the system was left in "eternal loop" or at least the system didn't answer anymore but I was forced to use "End Task" in task manager to stop the process.  Is this a known feature?

Unfortunately it is not just those three files you require. If we look at the start of the DescendantTree.htm file we can see references to a large number of javascript library and css files that are loaded relative to the parent folder
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en"/>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
<title></title>
<link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='../skin/ui.dynatree.css' >
<script src="../js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="../js/ui.core.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="../js/jquery.dynatree.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.2.5.css" media="screen" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="../fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.2.5.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../style.css" />
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../DescendantTree.css" /

And so unless you arrange to copy these files separately as well, it would indeed be easier to generate the chart in the required place, and remember to include the 'descendants' folder in the link.

Nothing is ever as simple as it may seem to be at first!

Hi Ron,

Thanks for you quick reply.  I've copied the files, the Descendants Tree Chart report produces ( DescendantTree.htm, Saksi-Elviira-ind02033.htm, Saksi-Elviira-ind02033.xml ), into Report folder.  The folder structure is as follows: 'Kotisivu / Raportit'.  Index. html (this is where my code line comes from) which calls Descendants Tree Chart files is located in 'Kotisivu' folder.

Should I create these three (3) files directly, with the Descendants Tree Chart report, into this 'Raportit' folder and not to copy from?

Bad font selection of me (it really doesn't clearly show all characters) but there is '.' before 'xml' - the actual line is as follows;

<li><a href="raportit/DescendantTree.htm?tree=Saksi-Elviira-ind02033.xml">Elviira</a></li>

Hi Jarmo,
the files for the Descendants Tree Chart are created in a folder 'descendants' below the folder you choose for the report output. Therefore if you choose the same folder as the Narrative Report then the correct relative path is

descendants/DescendantTree.htm?tree=name-id.xml

The descendants folder in your link seems to have been replaced by raportit and in your image I cannot see the '.' before 'xml'.

Hi Ron

I tried to make a link to DescendatTree.htm (see below, the 2nd line) from an other html file but the IE doesn't open the link?

<ul>

  <li><a href="sukututkimus.html">Sukututkimus</a></li>
  <li><a href="raportit/DescendantTree.htm?tree=Saksi-Elviira-ind02033.xml">Elviira</a></li>
  <li><a href="sukuseura.html">Sukuseura</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </li>

</ul>

I know I've missed again something but can't get forward and ask for you kind help.  BR, Jarmo

Hello Ron

Thanks again for guiding me to the correct path Blush!  I really was mixing skins and xml's as you said.  Downloaded latest version of "Descendants Report", as you advised, and it worked very well, as expected.  Sorry for causing confusion for you.  Best wishes, Jarmo

Hi Jarmo,
I think you are trying to confuse me by switching from the Descendants Tree Chart to the Descendants Narrative Report!

Looks like you are using an earlier version of the skin with a later version of the Dictionary.xml file.

Whilst I try to make the report skins backwards compatible with earlier Dictionary files I am not clairvoyant so am unable to make them forwards compatible with later versions of the Dictionary. Hehe

Try using the latest version of the English Descendants Report
